Twitch Live Streams
Twitch notifications post a message in your channel the moment a stream goes live, with the stream title, the game, the viewer count and a button to watch.
Closed beta
Twitch notifications are in closed beta, so they only show up in where the feature is enabled for your server. We are testing with a small group first and will open them up more widely later.
There are two of them in the notification list:
- Guild Wars 2 Twitch Stream. The official Guild Wars 2 channel, already set up for you.
- Twitch Live Stream. Any Twitch channel you pick.
Both are added the same way and post the same message. The Guild Wars 2 one comes with its channel already set, and its live message stays up to date on every server.
Setup
Add it from and open the Notifications category, then pick one of the two types.
For Twitch Live Stream, Aleeva asks which channel to follow. Answer with the channel name or its link, so either guildwars2 or https://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2. Aleeva looks the channel up on Twitch and asks again if there is no such channel. For Guild Wars 2 Twitch Stream this step is skipped, because the channel is already set.
To follow several streamers, add the notification once per streamer. The same streamer can go into more than one channel, again by adding the notification once per channel.
How many streamers you can follow
A server follows one Twitch channel of its choice. Channels are counted once each, so the same streamer posted into three channels still counts as one.
Premium
The Guild Wars 2 channel does not count towards this, so you can always have the official stream on top of your own.
What gets posted
The message carries the streamer's name and avatar, the stream title as a link to the channel, the preview image, and a Watch on Twitch button. Next to it Aleeva shows the game, the current viewer count, and the language the stream is in.
Keeping the message updated
Aleeva can keep the live message current for as long as the stream runs. Every few minutes she refreshes the viewer count and the preview image in the message that is already there, so your channel does not fill up with repeats.
When the stream ends, that same message is greyed out and marked as ended, with how long the stream ran and when it started and finished. The watch button goes away with it, since there is nothing left to watch.
Guild Wars 2 Twitch Stream does this for every server, free. There is nothing to switch on: pick the type and the live message keeps itself current.

Your own message text
Above the embed Aleeva writes a short line announcing that the streamer is live. You can replace it with your own text, and use these placeholders in it:

Anything else you type stays as it is. Roles you ping keep their own line below your text, so a long message never pushes the ping out.
