Scam Protection
Scammers love to spread phishing links and fake giveaway images in busy Discord servers. Aleeva watches every message for these and steps in automatically, so scam messages are caught and removed fast.
How it works
Aleeva checks new messages against two kinds of scams:
- Scam links from a constantly updated blocklist of known phishing domains
- Known scam images, such as fake Nitro or giveaway screenshots
Scam Protection is on by default. Out of the box Aleeva removes detected scam messages and takes no action against the sender, so nothing disruptive happens without your say-so. From your server settings you can choose a stronger action for anyone who posts a scam: time them out, kick them, ban them, or assign a role. Aleeva can post an alert in a channel of your choice that tells you whether a scam link or a scam image set it off.
Normally an action only fires once a member reaches the number of occurrences you set within an hour. Scam images are the exception, as described below.

Instant timeout on scam images
A known scam image is strong enough evidence on its own, so Aleeva does not wait for the occurrence threshold. The moment someone posts one, they are timed out. The message is still removed and the occurrence is still counted, the timeout simply does not wait for them.
The timeout lasts 2 hours by default, and you can set anything from 1 minute to 28 days. Members you have told Aleeva to ignore are skipped.
This applies to images only. Scam links always go through the normal occurrence threshold.
Network timeouts
Scammers rarely hit a single server. When Aleeva catches a scam image on one server, it looks at every other server it shares with that member and times them out there too, before they get a chance to post the same image. Detections on your server protect the others in the same way.
Each server decides for itself whether to act on what another server saw. A timeout only lands on a server when all of these are true there:
- Scam Protection is enabled
- Image scam detection is enabled
- Instant timeout on scam images is enabled
- Network timeouts are enabled
- The member is not on that server's ignore list
The receiving server also applies its own timeout duration rather than the one from the server where the image was posted, and the reason on the timeout says the detection came from another shared server.
Because of that chain, network timeouts need the instant timeout on scam images to be on. Turning the instant timeout off leaves network timeouts inactive even when the toggle itself is still on.
Sending works differently from receiving: your server broadcasts a detection to the network as soon as it catches a scam image, whether or not you have network timeouts switched on for incoming ones.
Setup
Scam Protection is server-based, so you manage it with the command. Select Scam Protection to choose the message and user actions, set the occurrence threshold, pick a notification channel, and configure the image-related protection:
- Toggle image scam detection. Whether known scam images are matched at all.
- Configure instant timeout on scam images. Turn it on or off, and set the duration in minutes.
- Toggle network timeouts. Whether detections on other shared servers time the member out here.
